A MEMBER SHALL MAINTAIN THE HIGHEST ETHICAL STANDARDS WITH INTEGRITY AND RESPECT. MEMBERS SHOULD ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PRACTICE OF MENTORING, CONSULTING AND ADVISING BUSINESS CLIENTS.
E.S. 1.1 Professional Boundaries: A Member bound by this Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct is one who is a Mentor, Consultant, and /or Advisor to business leaders.
E.S. 1.2 Conduct: A Member shall uphold all laws in the conduct of his/her professional activities and do so with the highest standard of ethics and integrity.
E.S. 1.3 Standards of Excellence: A Member shall demonstrate reasonable care and competence within his/her practice.
PRINCIPLE II
Obligations to the Client
A MEMBER SHALL SERVE HIS/HER CLIENT INDEPENDENTLY, IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER, AND EXERCISE UNPREJUDICED AND UNBIASED JUDGMENT ON THE CLIENT'S BEHALF.
E.S. 2.1 Professional Responsibilities: A Member should undertake to perform the engagement to the best of his/her ability. He/she should execute an engagement letter with the client that describes in general terms the scope and approach to be employed as well as the fee structure.
E.S. 2.2 Independence: A Member should avoid conflicts of interest and the appearance of conflicts of interest, and he/she should provide disclosure to the client of possible conflicting situations.
E.S. 2.3 Competence: A Member should only undertake engagements where he/she believes that the professional advice will be in the client's best interest.
E.S. 2.4 Candor and Truthfulness: A Member should accurately represent to existing or prospective clients what may be achieved through the use of a Member's services, recognizing that the Member provides advice and coaching but has no authority over the client and decisions made for that business, and that there is no guarantee of results.
E.S. 2.5 Confidentiality: A Member should maintain the confidentiality of his/her client's proprietary information.
PRINCIPLE III
Obligations to the Profession and to Colleagues
A MEMBER SHALL PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY AND DIGNITY OF THE SFA ORGANIZATION.
E.S. 3.1: A Member has the responsibility to further the profession by acting with integrity and supporting the objectives and programs of the SFA to enhance and maintain SFA's public image.
E.S. 3.2: A Member referring a client to another Member should not make any commitments on behalf of the Member receiving the referral or on behalf of the client being referred to the other Member.
E.S. 3.3: A Member should accurately represent his/her credentials and experience in the pursuit of engagements.
E.S. 3.4: A Member should represent SFA in a professional manner in all types of communications and presentations.
