HOUSTON, TX (April 20, 2018) - Silver Fox Advisors announced the May 2018 Lunch & Learn Program, scheduled for Thursday May 24, 2018, will feature John Hofmeister. Mr. Hofmeister will be speaking about “Energy’s Future in the 21st Century.”
Upon retirement as President of Shell Oil Company in 2008, Mr. Hofmeister founded and heads the not-for-profit membership association, Citizens for Affordable Energy. This public policy firm promotes sound U.S. energy security solutions for the nation, including a range of affordable energy supplies, efficiency improvements, essential infrastructure, sustainable environmental policies, and public education on energy issues.
A business leader who has participated in the inner workings of multiple industriesfor over 45 years, Mr. Hofmeister also has held executive leadership positions in General Electric, Nortel and AlliedSignal (now Honeywell International).
He has served as the Chairman of the National Urban League and Chairman of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee. At present he is non-executive Director of Hunting plc, London; Applus+, Madrid; and Global Geoscience, Sydney. Formerly, he was Chairman of Erin Energy Corp’s board of directors in Houston. Mr. Hofmeister also serves on the boards of the Foreign Policy Association, Strategic Partners, LLC and the Gas Technology Institute.
He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, and he is a past Chairman and current Director Emeritus of the Greater Houston Partnership. The author of Why We Hate the Oil Companies: Straight Talk from an Energy Insider (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010), Mr. Hofmeister serves as a Wrigley Scholar in the Global Institute of Sustainability at Arizona State University and a Lecturer at the University of Houston as well as at Kansas State University. Mr. Hofmeister earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Political Science from Kansas State University. He was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters from the University of Houston in May 2010 and from Kansas State University in 2014.
